When students drop or withdraw from classes, their charges may be subject to change. The effects of the drop or withdrawal will depend on the timing and nature of the drop or withdrawal. Various possibilities of course removals a student may utilize and the corresponding financial impact are listed below.
Drop before the semester – A drop before the semester begins will reverse the tuition and fee charges associated with the class or classes that are dropped.
Drop during the drop/add period – A drop during the drop/add period will reverse the tuition and fee charges associated with the class or classes that are dropped. Each class that is dropped or added during this period will incur a course change fee. The registration fee is also subject to remain on the student accounts even if the student drops all classes during the drop/add period.
Withdrawal after the drop/add period – A withdrawal after the drop/add period will not reverse the charges associated with the class or classes from which a student withdrawals. Additionally, students will be assessed a class withdrawal fee.
Emergency or administrative withdrawal – Students may be approved for emergency or administrative withdrawals depending on the circumstances surrounding their decision to withdraw from a class or classes. In these instances, the tuition and fee charges associated with the class or classes that are withdrawn from will be reversed. No additional fees will be charged to the student.
Students who are eligible to receive any Title IV aid, such as Pell Grant, should consult the Return to Title IV Policy to further assess the potential effects of withdrawing from their classes.
